Mike Kelly is the creator of the Eat Great Diet weight loss program.

Hi, Im Mike Kelly and I have struggled with my weight my whole life.  I was a chubby little kid that just could not seem to lose my baby fat.  I was teased and made fun of throughout grammar school and most of high school.

Our Key Factors

  • Never eat 2-3 hours before bedtime.
  • Breakfast should be biggest meal of the day followed by a Medium Sized Lunch and a Small Dinner.
  • Avoid sugar and carbohydrates, as a example candy, soda, pop etc.
  • Most likely when you first start this diet don’t take a huge amount of sugar.
  • A typical meal should consist of 45% protein, 40-45%carbohydrates and 10-15% vegetables.  No fat and no sugars. 

Eat-Great-Diet - Introduction

What should you eat to get your protein? Good Question! You can eat just about any meat, fish, soy protein or whatever. What we are trying to avoid is fat. So whatever type of protein you choose, the leanest cuts are best. I usually recommend Chicken Breast or Turkey Breast. One thing to remember is that Red Meat takes longer to digest than white meat. If you normally eat every 4-5 hours and you eat red meat, it may take your body 6-7 hours or more to digest it. If you eat again before your body has fully digested the last meal, the left over previous meal and/or what you don’t burn off from the new meal will be stored as fat. If you stick to white meat you will not have this problem. Fish is the easiest to digest, so you will be hungry sooner. Keep in mind that Some fish is more fatty than others. Try to focus on the leanest types of fish like orange roughly and sea bass rather than salmon. Tuna is right in the middle.
Metabolism is your bodys ability to burn calories on a daily basis. Metabolism in itself is a complicated thing. If you have a slower metabolism, it may be easier for someone else with a higher metabolism to keep the weight off, but there is hope for you. Lets talk numbers. If you take in 1000 calories for breakfast, your body will expect to get another 1000 calories for lunch and another 1000 calories for dinner for a total of 3000 calories for the day. Lets say you eat 1000 calories for breakfast, 750 calories for lunch and 500 calories for dinner. You will have burned 750 calories just by eating. This is why we want to use our metabolism to our advantage. If you throw in 500 calories worth of exercise, you will have burned 1250 calories that day.
